Story Time

At Bowsland Green, we understand the importance of reading for children’s education. As a school, we have taken on a New Year’s challenge to read every night! Children are then encouraged to show their enjoyment of reading with the whole school community through their reading journal.

As educators, we can change children’s lives through encouraging them to read daily and widely. Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day, not only perform better in reading than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.

When we read we do not read in isolation; reading empowers children in EVERY subject.

As staff at Bowsland Green, we want to support parents to encourage and inspire their children to read. Thus, the library is open every day after school and every Tuesday we welcome ALL children to open their world to books with an engaging story time. We promise to make this session: fun, inspiring and engaging and all you need to do is bring your child.

We hope to see many children there to immerse themselves in a world of fantasy, adventure and much more.
